Under $10.00 for Dinner for the Week

1 Person Instructions:

Rather than feeling deprived and hungry for "real food" while you are strapped for cash is to purchase a family size frozen meal, instant mashed potatoes (2 bags or keep a large box on hand), and then buy a can of vegetables or a bag of frozen veggies.  I keep the meal in the fridge for convenience.

Then I just grab a plate at the end of the day, put 1 serving of the family size meal on it together with a large helping of mashed potatoes, and a large helping of veggies.  Then I microwave it.  It helps me to feel satisfied and not at all deprived.   I have made one of these meals, 2 cans of veggies (or a bag), and 2 bags of instant mashed potatoes last anywhere between 5 - 7 days.

If you are eating the turkey and gravy, I recommend slices of bread under the turkey and gravy or salisbury steak and gravy, if you have a big appetite.  I've also added pasta to the chicken parm.

You can make jell-o for dessert if you have a sweet tooth after dinner.

NOTE:  These tips are for those who do not have serious dietary restrictions.  These tips are strictly for the purposes of being able to eat.

Also, you can modify this to serve 2 people for a couple of days.

Lastly, if you do not eat meat, you will be surprised at the variety of instant mashed potatoes that you can find, and just eat the mashed potatoes and veggies.  I have found this to also be a very satisfying meal, and it comes with a savings of anywhere between $2.50 - $3.00 for the week because you did not purchase the frozen meal (meat).

Earn Money While Spending Money on Groceries

There are websites that will reward you for shopping. Who knew?

All you have to do is photograph your receipt and share it with them. You can earn cash-back on your groceries with apps like IbottaSavings Star and Checkout51. These services offer weekly cash-back deals on a range of goods and all you need to do is take a photo of your receipt showing you bought the item to take advantage of the reward (which translates into savings)!

Less Meat / Cut Grocery Cost / Dirt Cheap Grocery / Improve Health

Want to reduce your grocery budget and improve your health but do not want to sacrifice taste?  Not quite ready to go vegetarian or vegan just yet?

Here is what I have done to save money on meat:  I have been purchasing turkey burgers that are pre-packaged separately (they typically come in a box, and I have been finding them on BOGO sales).  Believe it or not, you can use just ONE turkey burger to add to spaghetti sauce or to make 8 tacos (just add more toppings), and it tastes just as good . . .but without the high fat of red meat ground hamburger.

Try it!  You will be very surprised!

An up and coming business with very little overhead

Have you considered grass painting?

As seen in Fortune and Inc. Magazines

Anyone here been out of work for quite some time and trying to find a way to start your own business so that you can get back to work and getting some income? I have been thinking that maybe it is the best and quickest way to earning money once more. Not to mention that perhaps in this day and age, it is best to be dependent on no employer. After some extensive research, I have learned that grass painting is an up and coming business and very cheap to get started. You just need to know the "ins and outs" of the business. I did an online search to see what is available to those wanting to start their own lawn painting business, and frankly, I was disappointed at the lack of resources. To be even more frank, I was surprised by advertisers who seem to be offering a lawn painting business in a box, for lack of a better term, and at a huge upfront investment to the entrepreneur. It is not wise to put so much money out up front at the beginning of any business.

There is an ebook available that can get you started for much less than anyone else is offering to get a lawn painting business started, and there is already a 2nd edition available. In the 2nd edition of "How to Start a Lawn Painting Business" ebook, the following topics are covered:

  • How to formulate a business plan and how to reach your personal/professional goals;
  • What equipment you need, where to get the equipment, and how to use the equipment;
  • How to market your business, to include building a website, online marketing, search engine optimization, "on foot" marketing, how / where to purchase marketing materials, sample marketing flyers, and who your likely customers are;
  • How to prepare estimates, a sample price sheet, where to get your information from, and how to deal with your customers (recommendations for payments, billing, etc.);
  • Common pitfalls and mistakes to avoid;
  • List of best resources (many of which are free) with hyperlinks included so that you can click on the resource and be immediately directed to the recommended vendor, website building company, etc.
  • How to set up your home office with specific administrative instructions, and much, much more!
